Welcome to Hazelwood Grove
Welcome to The Hazelwood Grove
Our Mission and Vision
Hazelwood is a spiritual community rooted in consensus, where each individual’s path is honored without hierarchy, membership, or ranking. We foster inclusive spaces that encourage sharing, learning, and personal growth through collective rituals and events. Our commitment to honesty and openness enables us to support one another in raising awareness and consciousness, advancing what I call ‘The Great Work.’
We envision a resilient and authentic community that flourishes through mutual respect and shared intention. By embracing diverse spiritual expressions and collaborative decision-making, Hazelwood intends to be a beacon for those seeking connection beyond traditional structures. Our ongoing goal is to cultivate sacred spaces where individual journeys intersect, nurturing collective wisdom and contributing to a more conscious, compassionate world.
What is the Great Work?
The Great Work refers to the journey a person takes to reach authentic self-recognition or self-actualization through personal awakening also known as enlightenment, ego transcendence, spiritual awakening, or ‘crossing the abyss’. Simply put, it happens when someone goes beyond their ego, sees that separation is an illusion, and understands that everything is connected.
How is Hazelwood doing the Great Work?
Community Connection
First and foremost, I have a deep passion for serving the local community and putting people first. I actively engage with the community by offering meaningful rituals, organizing meet-ups, leading nature walks, providing mentorship, and conducting readings, along with other supportive services. These efforts help nurture a sense of belonging and connection among individuals.
Living Sustainably
I am committed to being a responsible steward of the Earth and striving to live in greater harmony and balance with the natural world. Regardless of the spiritual path one follows, there is a shared understanding that caring for our planet—the one home we all share—is an essential and urgent responsibility.
Authenticity and Inclusivity
I place significant value on authenticity in every interaction. Embracing this means fostering an environment rooted in acceptance and inclusivity, which in turn creates safe spaces. These spaces allow us to fully show up as our radically vulnerable and genuine selves, promoting deeper understanding and connection within the community.
Why Hazelwood?
Hazel has been special to me since I was a child. I remember listening to Ceoltoiri’s version of The Song of Wandering Aengus, a poem by WB Yeats, and the words “I went to the Hazelwood, a fire was in my head” stuck with me in a deep and indelible way that I would not truly understand for years to come. In my studies of the sacred tree ogham I have found hazel (Coll) to be a perfect tree to represent my presence in the community - representing wisdom, protection and healing. Beyond that, the physical properties of hazel are of interest; hazel is well suited to grow in a copse - a small wood or thicket made up of numerous individual trees coming together to be more than the sum of its parts. When I was a bit older, my mother gifted a hazel wand to me which had been cut from a corkscrew hazel and fit perfectly around my wrist. I still have that wand and it is the effigy of the egregor of Hazelwood today.

"It'll take a lot more than words and guns,
A whole lot more than riches and muscle,
The hands of the many must join as one -
And together we'll cross the river"
