Welcome to Hazelwood Grove
Welcome to The Hazelwood Grove
Our Mission and Vision
Hazelwood Grove is an affinity group focused on creating safe sacred spaces for sharing, learning, and growing together through group rituals and events where everyone’s path is respected equally. Our goal is to create sacred spaces where personal journeys meet, growing shared wisdom and kindness for a more conscious and thoughtful world.
Community Connection
Hazelwood is passionate about serving the local community and putting people first. We connect with others through rituals, meet-ups, nature walks, mentorship, readings, and other support to foster community connection.
Living Sustainably
Hazelwood is dedicated to taking care of the Earth and living in harmony with nature. No matter what spiritual path we follow, we can all agree that protecting our shared home is important and urgent.
Authenticity and Inclusivity
Hazelwood prioritizes authenticity and inclusivity in all things. This means creating a space where everyone feels accepted and included, making it safe to be vulnerable and authentic. This helps us connect deeply and understand each other better.
A Note on Appropriation
Hazelwood strives to identify and address cultural appropriation, endeavoring to show respect for the origins of all indigenous traditions. Appropriation occurs when members of the dominant culture adopt parts of a minority culture without understanding, respect, or permission, which can cause harm by stripping these practices of their original potent meaning and causing offense. By practicing harm reduction instead of blaming or shaming this allows for open conversation and learning which helps to build understanding and respect.
Why Hazelwood?
Hazel has meant a lot to me since I was a child. I remember hearing Ceoltoiri’s version of The Song of Wandering Aengus by WB Yeats, especially the line “I went to the Hazelwood, a fire was in my head,” which resonated deeply with me, even if I didn’t fully understand why at the time. In learning about the sacred tree ogham, I found hazel (Coll) symbolizes wisdom, protection, and healing—qualities that reflect my role in the community. I’m also drawn to model community building in the way that hazel trees grow in small groups, or copses; individuals working together to become a stronger whole. My mother gave me a hazel wand made from corkscrew hazel when I was a child. I still have it, and it now carries the egregor (spirit) of Hazelwood.

"It'll take a lot more than words and guns,
A whole lot more than riches and muscle,
The hands of the many must join as one -
And together we'll cross the river"
